Historical Costume Pattern and Supply Vendors

Pattern Vendors

(These are companies that I have had good results dealing with, or have only heard good things about them, and have, as a rule, very high standards of authenticity, and some documentation with their patterns.)

JP Ryan Patterns
Excellent patterns for 18th century

Kannick's Korner
Another excellent 18th century pattern maker.  Patterns do cover the some of the early 19th century.

The Mantua Maker
Maker of patterns from 1400 to the late Victorian, including patterns for underpinnings and plus sized ladies.

Past Patterns
One of the premier sources of Victorian patterns.  Now has a few Regency era patterns along with her post-1830 selection.

Rockinghorse Farm
I have heard mixed things, and evidently some of their patterns are better than others, but the one pattern I have gotten from them had excellent documentation and instructions. Their website says they are in the process of revising their patterns.

Select Sewing and Knitting Supplies for Historical Costuming and Crafting

Lacis
If I could only list one supplier, this would be the store for their wide variety of speciality tools, like 8/0 knitting needles, bobbin lace tools and fine linen threads. A good source of corsetry goods as well.

Fabric Vendors

Fabrics-store.com
Good service and the best price I have found on linen around.  They usually have linen starting at 3.2 oz /yd, which is great for things like shifts and finer shirts.

Reproduction Fabrics
If you are looking for authentic prints and cloth designs from the past, check this site out.

Family Heirloom Weavers
This is a small company that makes 19th century style fabrics, such as kersey and jean.

Silk Connection
Sells a variety of silks in white and black, ready for dyeing

Silk Road Fabrics
Silks and other fabrics in a variety of colors and at good prices.

Phoenix Textiles

A great place to shop for closeouts and discounted fabrics
