Knitting a Conundrum

Prayer for Terri Schiavo and the Schindlers

In to your hands, O Lord,
we commit our dear sister Terri
and her loving family.

Strengthen them, O Lord,
for the days and tasks ahead,
open the doors that the dark one
has tried to shutter close
and have mercy on this family.

Terri and her family are such a symbol
of life,
of it's preciousness,
and of the evil that men do
pretending that they offer mercy
when they offer pain, and death and sorrow.

Lord, help them in their time of need,
heal their hearts,
make them strong,
and may their example help all of us who care,
who fight for the rights of the vunerable and weak,
and who depend upon you to be our strength and our shield.

Lord, be with us
and help us answer your call,
this day, and always,
as we ask it in the name of Jesus,
Amen.
