In 1990 Terri Schindler Schiavo suffered a heart attack which resulted in brain damage. Her husband, Michael sued for medical malpractice and was awarded $9,400,000.00 for her medical care and rehabilitation. The jury also awarded Michael $640,000.00 for loss of consortium of his wife.
*Terri shows emotions and responds to human interaction which suggests she is not in a persistent vegatative state. She receives no "life support" other than tube feeding. Despite her abilities, less than a year after the trial, her husband began the process to end his wife's life. Her family has been fighting in court to save Terri's life, and obtain the rehabilitative care she needs.
*On Thursday, the Florida Supreme Court cleared the way for Terri's feeding tube to be removed. Michael will not allow any attempts to feed her. Terri will die from dehydration and starvation. Terri is a Catholic, but her husband is refusing to allow a priest to give her Last Rights.

Oh Holy Mother Teresa of Calcutta, whose great love of Christ led you to serve the poorest of the poor, and whose missionary zeal inspired you to embrace the peoples of the world, I come to you in humble supplication. Obtain for me the grace to see Christ in all human beings, embracing them in the spirit of generosity and ministering to them in the name of Jesus. Please intervene on the behalf of Terri Schindler Sciavo. Ask the Lord to bless her and save her life.
