This is my month to wash and press the church linens.
I was prepping the linens at my table when my teenaged
son came by and asked me what I was doing, and I
explained about it, in a bit more detail than he
wanted. Then he said, "Mom, you sure have been talking
a lot to me about Jesus lately."

I replied to him, "Son, you know how you are about
skateboarding? Well I'm like that about Jesus. You
are just going to have to deal with it."

We need to be as obsessive about Jesus as
kids are about their interests. St. Paul said, "In Him
we live and breathe and have our being," and we need to
be conscious, aware and tuned into that.

In the morning when we wake up, we should think
something like, "Dear Jesus, today, through the
Immaculate Heart of Mary, I give you all my hopes,
fears, joys, sorrows, successes, failures. I offer you
my heart, my life, my all."

And then we should live our lives like we mean it!

There is an old poem by Francis Havergal, which is a
suitable prayer for this thought:

Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless
praise.
Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of Thy
love.
Take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for
Thee.

Take my voice, and let me sing always, only, for my
King.
Take my lips, and let them be filled with messages from
Thee.
Take my silver and my gold; not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect, and use every power as Thou shalt
choose.

Take my will, and make it Thine; it shall be no longer
mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own; it shall be Thy royal
throne.
Take my love, my Lord, I pour at Thy feet its treasure
store.
Take myself, and I will be ever, only, all for Thee.

_______

Lord, may we dedicate ourselves, not just what we own,
but our time, our thoughts, our efforts to what you
want, to being with you, to doing your work, now and
forever. Amen.
