It is a wonderful thing to think about how Jesus was willing to come to earth, was willing to suffer for us, knowing what we are like.
Being keenly aware of our unworthiness, I sit in joyful amazement that God loves us in spite of our flaws, sins, shortcomings and insecurities that lead us to act in such awful ways. Knowing us as intimately as he does, Jesus still willingly died for us, called us to come to him, sat down and ate with us, and it is a wonder to look at the world today, so full of hate and bitterness and evil done in the name of self and also in the name of God, to contemplate that it had to be love to get God to do what he has done. And that is amazing and comforting, and keeps me going.
It makes me want to say to Jesus, "Lord, I am so sorry we have done this to you, " but at the same time, makes me feel secure in the hands of a loving God, and leads me to keep trying to fulfil my determination that if possible, I will die a saint (whether anybody but God knows about it or not).
I hope this helps when you feel struggling with the "I am unworthy" feelings. We all are unworthy. But he loves us IN SPITE of our unworthiness, and that is a marvelous thing that should inspire us to come ever closer to him.
