I was looking at one of the Medjugorje messages the other day and this passage jumped up at me:
"Therefore, dear children, pray that from your heart
would flow a fountain of love to every person both to
the one who hates you and to the one who despises you.
That way you will be able through Jesus' love to
overcome all the misery in this world of sorrows, which
is without hope for those who do not know Jesus."
Do we want peace in the world? This is the answer! Be
the channel of the love of God to everyone your life
touches, EVEN (or is it ESPECIALLY) those that hate you
and despise you. If all of us who profess the name of
Christian actually did this, there would be a transformation,
just like in the parable of the yeast. The big
destructive hatreds start small, frequently at the home
level. We aren't being asked to go out and wage peace
campaigns and other major activities; Jesus tells us to love our enemies, do good to them that hurt you. We need to pray so that you can love
God, then love your fellow man with that love, and one
by one, as we are drawn to God, lives will be
transformed.
Every time we act in ways that intentionally hurt, we
give the father of lies more ammunition to use. Every
time we do something with love, for God, for Christ,
because our Lady asks it, we take some ammunition away
from him.
Without God, the world is a realm of sorrows that has
no meaning or purpose. With God, Heaven can begin
while we still live. It is only through his
transforming touch that this can happen. And we are
his tools to do it!
Thank you, Lord, and may we always be open. Help us to
love those that are so hard for us to love, that we can
be channels of your transforming light. Blessed
Mother, thank you for your patiennce, and your kindness
of continually helping us do this, and reminding us of
what is important!
