God often wears the distressing face of those we don't
want to like. But, "as we do to one of these little
ones we do to Jesus." It's our duty to act with love
and pray for them. This can be hard, but we have great
role models in Jesus and in St. Francis (whose feast day is
today - the story of St. Francis and the leper was told
to me as a kid and is one I always remembered), and
Mother Teresa.
Praying for them is the foundation. Praying for the
grace to do right by them is the next step for many of
us!
Lord, give us the grace to remember that to love our
own is an easy thing, for as you said, even sinners do
this. Help us to love those who aren't one of ours,
who aren't lovable, and who need your help so badly.
Open our hearts that we may always respond to them!
Thus, may we spread your light of love throughout the
dark of life. Amen.
